What to use on convertible top - to keep new.
Hey, I have been thinking lately how I can wax the heck out of my paint to protect it, however what can be done to a convertible top to keep looking new and clean? Any suggestions or secrets you guys have?

I use soap on the top, thats it.

Armor All. Nothing can beat a good armoralling, but make sure you windex the OUTSIDE of the windows AFTER you are done with the armor all cause any of it thats on the windows will blind you. Also, the next time it rains after you armorall your top, you may have a little bit of streaking as well, but it makes the top look great. Good armorall story: I washed my car the other day, armoralled the top and the tires (makes em shine real goodlike). I didn't know it at the time, but i had gotten some armorall on the rotors (!). So i take the car out after that and at the end of my street, I press, and press, and get very little braking power, OOPS! I figured out what I did pretty quickly after that, and had a good laugh.

Do not put armor all on your top. Yes it will make it shine real nice, it will also dry your top out and make it brittle and crack.

rbatson is right, do not use armor all. Use something that oxidizes it as well as your tires and body trim. Just my $.02

I have to disagree with you on the armorall, my dad has used it on our 11yr old lx for the entire life of the car, never had any problem. The roof IS vinyl, so the its an impermiable long chain polymer, there isn't much that you can do it, cept for things like long term sun damage.

Whoops, my bad, I meant you have to de-oxidize it. try checking out www.meguiars.com
