![]() Well, like the subject line said..., Last night my daughter and I were finishing up some errands and we came across the remains of some kind of accident, pretty much blocked the road. As we passed we saw that a Ford pickup was on a curb and the left front fender looked damaged. Ok, we move on.
Two blocks down and about three over I turn a corner to see (so sad) a Mustang GT apparently stalled in the road, heavily nose down and flashers on. Some kid who even from a distance looked drunk was standing behind the 'stang, and anouther was behind the wheel. As I approched, the one outside flagged me down. Now I could see that the whole right side was crushed and both front tires were flat probally even with broken wheels. I thought that I was starting to put the whole picture together now. When I rolled down my window, I could tell that this kid had been drinking. he incredibly asked if I had some jumper cables. I'm thinking that he needs more then jumper cables and I start to say no, when suddenly I decided that this is just too #$%^ed up for me, and I say "Yeah, but I will have to go back and get them" Oh he was all excited that I was going to help. I returned to the accident and asked a cop if they were looking for a hit and run, they were. "Follow me" she did. Like I said I feel a bit like a rat for turning in a fellow 'stanger but I know that it was the right thing in this case. |

![]() Well, it was a tad bit hard to follow a few parts in the story, but basically if you turned in a drunk driver who was responsible for a hit and run, no matter who it was, you absolutely did the right thing. I don't care if it was a fellow stanger at all. And if it was, he/she/they should be kicked out of the "club"--- we don't need them. The only thing though, is I would've had to be sure that I knew what I was doing (ie, that they were DUI) b4 "ratting someone out" for DUI.
2 questions, just to fill in the holes in my mind. Was there anyone in the truck and I guess when you said the police were at the accident, you're referring to the truck and not the Mustang.

![]() Just because he is a fellow Mustang driver does not constitute a immunity!!!!
You by all means did the right thing!! If he is drunk and in fault of the accident then great he was caught. If he wasn't at fault of the accident then there is still the possiablity of the driver being drunk, then you still did the right thing by bring attention to him before he hurts himself or another. At least he will get that tow that he wants. ![]() ![]() Good Job ![]() |

![]() You did the right thing.....
1.) The most likely weren't going anywhere, and needed the help anyways.... 2.) and Think about this: If they actually could have been on the road (you said that your daughter was w/ you)........no matter what they drive.........would you have wanted them risking your daughters' life? A drunk driver killed my grandpa, and permanently injured my grandma...... I'm VERY bitter towards them. ![]() -Will

![]() To answer Fox Bodies question.
The police were at the truck. There were so many people there as I passed by, I didn't notce any person in particular that I recognized as the occupants of the truck. My daughter (12) said there was an older lady and a girl. I saw a firetruck and maybe three cruisers at that site and a full complement of individuals. To answer points brought up by others. A few minutes later when I saw the smashed up 'stange, because of it's proximity to the truck and all that related activity I "suspected" that these kid's were involved with the truck I had just seen. That suspecion became stronger when the kid's behavior appeared to me to be drunken, and then the suspision about drinking became even stronger when he asked for jumper cables as he obviously was far enough out not to realize that they were beyond any point where jumper cable's could help. Where I did not get a real good look at the damage to the truck the damage to the 'stang was considerable. "IF" my suspison were real, these guys needed to be picked up, and as one of ya'll mentioned, at the very least the police would help them out of they're jam if I was wrong, and as someone else said, I had no idea if they were involved or if there were injuries. A side note: My step-daughter (21 then) was in a car one year ago just before Thanksgiving when she and the other three girls she was with were hit by a drunk driver in Grand Prarie, Tx. Two of the girls were killed, my daughter was pulled out unconsiouse and on fire. Yes, I may drink myself from time to time, but like I said in the story, this whole thing felt #$%^ed up to me. |

![]() I wouldn't even think twice about it. You did the right thing. Even if they weren't drinking, they needed the police's help. And, if they were sober but still resposible for a hit and run, they needed to be turned in.

![]() Well in the evil way to do it, you could have driven them down the road a bit, dropped them off, then went back to get those spare parts you always wanted. Then called the cops on them.
Or you could have filmed them for like "Worlds stupidest drunks" I on the other hand would have the same thing except I don't think I could have talked to the little ***** without hitting them. Sounds like the local Honda dealer will get a few customers as soon as the idiot gets out of jail. Too bad their car didn't burn at least IT would have a viking funeral. |

![]() well, if they were not drunk, the cops would have figured it out and helped them as pointed out.
If they hit someone else and tried to get away, then they should be turned in anyhow. It is hit and runs that contribute to all of us having higher insurance rates. no need to feel bad. I think u should pat urself on the back. Ryan

![]() You did the right thing, those kids deserve everything coming to them.
Not only did they wreck a mustang, they were drunk AND did a hit and run.....i hope neither of them is allowed behind the wheel of a mustang ever again.

![]() you did the right thing. to do nothing would be worse, and to help them leave would be even worse(aiding and abetting come to mind). dont let doing the right thing get you down. if more people would do what is right, then this world would be a much better place.
