'69 and '70 blocks have "unusual" (shorter) deck heights than other years. Great for putting in flattop pistons and making higher compression motors, but more difficult getting intakes.
I ran a '69 block with '70 heads for 10.7:1 in my 351-W Zephyr. I would get something as new as possible, like out of a van or something... Then, building a 351 wont be cheap. It'll take a LOT more small items that will easily add up. You'll be overbudget in no time!!! Build the 302.

Go ahead and build the 393 stroker. If you start to go over budget then extend your project time.....big deal....it will be worth it in the long run. I have only a mild 351w in my '82 and I swore it would never see another 302 in the engine compartment for as long as I owned the car!!
