![]() I have 16 x 8 ponies with 245/50/16 tires on them and get a slight rub when I turn the wheel all the way to either side. I have heard a few people refer to "rolling the inner fender walls" but I have no idea what that means. Obviously, it means rolling the inner fender wall up for more wheel clearance, but how exactly is it done? Is it something I can do on my own, or should I take it to a shop? Thanks, Keith

![]() Many will tel you to use a hammer carefully, but there is actually a tool out there for it, most shops won't have it unless maybe it is a performance shop. Rolling the fenders usually refers to the rear due to the squat onto the rear tires, if you front wheels are rubbing up front they are most likely rubbing on the inner fender plastic guard, I would recommend going to a smaller tire, I have seen some pull the guard completely out but don't recommend that. I know that the year they started coming standard with the 16'' ponies the inner fender peice was wider, or roomier if you will for the tirea dnr im. You might be able to look into getting a 93 inner palstic peice for the rubbing. If it is rubbing on the fender in the front, well, it should not be.

![]() I had a friend that did this to his F-150 because he slammed it and was rubbing. Where the fender is cut for the wheel, there is a lip that is about 1" wide. From what he was telling me, you take something you can roll with, a rolling pin or a baseball bat is what he suggested, just roll it across this lip until it pushes up. I have never really paid attention to the underside of the fenderwell of my stang, but in my truck, there is a plastic splashguard above the tire. If this splasguard is there, you will have to remove it. A lot of people I know have also ground the lip off with a handheld angle-grinder. I don't suggest that unless you have used one alot and plan to repaint your car.

![]() Rolling consists of literally rolling a bat along the fender.
First, remove the 12:00 screw (or you'll have a chip in the paint, like the rest of us). Then grab an old WOODEN baseball bat. Shove it in between the fender and the tire. By rolling the bat, it will slip along the fender (less friction) than it will stick and roll along the rubber tire. Use this to get the bat 45-degrees and actually make the fender edge from an "L" into a "V" (sort'a).
