Wheel alignment= Home mechanic
Is it possiable to do a wheel allignment at my home? If so how could i do it and what would i need. Obviously i know i need wrenchs and stuff like that but what else do i need
Thanks |
I very seriously doubt it, toe would be about the only thing you could do, and I think that would be a treat, why dont you just take it to a shop? 65 bucks is worth it in my mind, but then again, considering Im at a dealer, I can allign my own vehicles

imo the cost of a front end alignment is nothing compared to having to replace the tires when they wear if you get it wrong i looked around and got mine done for under $50

well guys i am starting to worry about the shops around here. I just got my front tires mounted. But guess what i pull into my driveway to work on the car, and right next to the darn car there is a weight for the darn wheel. It was defiently from my car too.
what is this world coming to |
Damn, that does suck! Thats why Im glad I have the job I do, I can work on my own stuff, good luck in your shop hunt though:)
|
take it back and have them rebalance it i had that happen to me once i got my tires mounted and balanced then left got up to about 60mph and felt vibration took it back and they rebalanced it if it was a reputable shop i wouldnt think you should ahve any probs i mean i myself wouldnt want to loose a potential cutomer over a bad 10 cent wheel weight but if they wont fix it look around there is someone out there im sure that takes pride in their work in your area sometimes its just hard to find them

I really don't think you could do it at home. They are bubble camber/caster guages out there, but good ones arn't cheap. It takes a bit of pratice to get a good at it too. I've seen alot guys do really crappy jobs. And tires aint cheap, just take somewhere that you can get a copy of it. Ask first! I hope you can read one, just because the numbers say they are in spec, does not mean it was a good job, you have to look at the whole thing.

dude NTB does 2 wheel alignments for $39.99

Pay a local shop for an alignment and be done with it. IMOHO, It take a lot of equipment to do it right, and do it at home.
