Cool when changing thermostat, do I have to...?

drain the radiator of all coolant, or can I kink the coolant tubes from the radiator. Just trying to keep my a little clean, but if it can't be done then that's ok. Any tips?
thanks!

I normally just drain it enough so it gets most out of the upper hose. I always push down on my hose, so it drains into the radiator. Normally there isnt too much in the manifold, I would just stick some rags under the thermostat housing when you take it off. Drain the anti-freeze into a bucket, then you can use it again (if its clean).

Get your garden hose out, then yank the t-stat housing off. It'll drain exactly how much it wants to.

.....and drill some relief holes in the stat to help bleed out the trapped air.

does that work? I suppose that much anti-freeze getting by doesnt really matter....I think that could help me out, sorry for kinda hi-jacking your thread, haha.

Just drill a couple small 1/8" holes in the flange. This helps bleed the air out of the system.
