Default Where can I find more power?

I have the following.1-5/8 shortys, mac o/r x pipe,6al,msd coil,8.5mm wires,3:73's,t-5,no ac,no smog, weld draglites,26x10.5et streets,k&n,timing15degr, Now I just took off the stock upper and lower intake, and added a trick flow street upper & lower then replaced the stock throttle body with a bbk70mm and I only gained 2 tenths. Is this to be expected? I was hoping for a little more. Is my stock mass air meter now limiting air flow enough not to notice a gain with the intake swap??thanks...14.20@97

20 hp isn't a bad gain for the intake and TB, considering your stock heads and MAF are probably the bottleneck. I bet if you add a set of TW or AFR heads and a new MAF you'll gain 10 mph+.

You won't pick up a whole lot with just a intake swap because the heads are the real bottle neck.

A set of roller rockers would be my next mod if I was you.

I am going to put on a new set of afr165's this winter so I'll do the rockers than. So for the most part it looks like I'm stuck for now. I just went to the local junkyard and picked up a electric fan for a taurus, Hopefully I'll get that to workout. I also have to order a cage and put it in if I go.2ths faster being a convert. I hope the heads, cam, rockers, tub k-member w/coilovers,maf,24lbinj, gets me there???? All I have is the fan itself. Can I use the coolant temp sensor from the same 94taurus and somehow get it to work???

Here's a link to wiring a MKVIII electric fan. The wiring and control layout should be the same with your Taurus fan.

Put your car on a diet, Dropping a couple hundred pounds is the easiest way to pick up a few tenths.

upgrade that small mass air sensor and go with at least 24lb injectors maybe 30's with matching mass air sensor and obviously adj. fuel pressure regulator ( bbk) and gauge. that would be my next buy in your setup. heads and cam do wonderss. I used the F-cam and i loved it.. great idle. scares the
$hit out of people when you go down the road. people will argue with me on the old technology of the Ford cams but it worked out great for me.

I'm working on choosing a mass air meter. I don't know if I should go with a 73mm or 75-76. I'm using a bbk 70mm tb. Than I'll have to figure out what size injector I need to run.

well decied well, cause if you get 24lb injectors then your stuck with a matching mass air.. i would do 30lb injectors safe injectors with plenty of mod capability. saves you in the long run.. I made that mistake.

I posted somewhere else yesterday asking about meters, and I was looking at one that came with a sample tube for 19# and 24#. Is it just a matter of swapping out the tube somehow. I didn't think getting thru this part of the mods was going to take this much thought. But like you say, I want to buy parts once not 4 times to get it right. But I suppose that is the nature of the beast.

You don't need 24 lb/hr injectors on a stock headed motor and putting 30's on a stock headed N/A motor is just stupid.

Stick with the stock 19's for now until you've got a good heads, cam, intake set up on.
