![]() The paint code should be listed on the white sticker (that has all the vehicle information) under 'Exterior Paint Color'. It's a letter/number combination.
On my '90 LX it's LX3 for Wild Strawberry metallic paint. Take the code to an auto paint supply store and either find it yourself or have a counterman do it for you. No problem. |

![]() Your local Ford dealership should have factory touch-up paint available. They will be able to decipher your code for you as well.
Take care, -Chris

![]() Hey guys, LX3 is not a paint code...
The exterior paint code is a two letter code just to the left of the words "exterior paint color" My Reef Blue LX is a "PD" code for example, I also have the LX3 located on the tag and I'm not sure what that means exactly... maybe LX hatch??? later |

![]() The above is correct on the paint code. Every Ford that I have owned has a two letter paint code. My old truck was KE blue. Not sure what my stang is, but it is definitely a two letter code. Make sure you line up the description above with the code. Make sure you are looking at ext. color. 10-4 out

![]() LX3 is the Body Code.
LX3 is the body code for LX Mustang hatchback (the 3 stands for 3-door), and is also found on the LX Escort hatch. LX2 is the base model LX Mustang, and the LX Thunderbird. LX4 is the LX Crown Vic, and the 4 door notch LX Escort. LX5 is the 4 door hatch LX Escort. LXW is the LX Escort wagon. LXC is the LX Mustang Convert (GTC is the GT 'vert). Get it? Take care, -Chris BTW, I've got all the factory info for the codes found on the VC Label, if you're interested.

![]() Got it...
PKRWUD comes through again! Lucky guess on my part about the LX3, it just seemed logical. PKRWUD, can yout tell us what years and how many stangs were pumped out of the factory with Reef Blue paint or the PD paint code? I usually don't see too many around. Was it just '93 or '92 also? Thanks, Later |

![]() I stand corrected.
Sorry for the misinformation; I ran out to the car and looked quickly but didn't look hard enough. It happens. I defer to PKRWUD's expertise (no sarcasm intended, either) and will slink away quietly now. ![]() |

![]() Honest mistake. Slinking is not necessary. Especially on a Friday. Actually, there is no specific rhyme or reason when it comes to the VC Label codes, at least not when it comes to all of their vehicles. For example, all Ford axle codes for cars are a single digit or letter, but all of the trucks have 2 or 3. Go figure. Take care, -Chris P.S. That's with one cream and one sugar. ![]()
