Default 351W EFI in a Fox?

It seems the 351W swap is pretty common these days, but I don't see too many set up with all emissions equipment for street use. I need to have a setup that can pass emissions, but I would like the extra displacement of the 351 or a even a stroker.

While I am still considering the modular Cobra swap, I would like to find out as much as possible about the 351W swap in an EFI/smog configuration.

If any of you have documented a swap like this or seen web site with this documented, I would love to see it. Do you guys think I can pass the emissions test with a healthy but not extreme 351W stroker? I was thinking TFS TW heads and TFS intake, or possibly the FRPP 392 stroker short block or long block.

The car is an 89' LX 2.3 auto, and I do want to convert to manual transmission. I would prefer a T-56 6-speed but would consider a Tremec 5-speed. A T-5 is out of the question.

That was a lot of stuff, but the main question is: Can it be set up to pass emissions?

Thanks again, guys!

I know in NY, almost anything you do will cuase the car to fail a visual inspection even though it will pass the snifter on the dyno (isn't that all that matters?) It really depends on the state you live in and how harsh there rules are.

I'm sure you can get a 351 to pass inspection. There are cars otu there that came with 351's stock and easily pass inspection so i don't see why it would be a problem to get an aftermarket to pass. As for a stroker on a 351 block... no idea.

Hey, thanks for replies. I'm in VA, and I'm pretty sure I can pass the inspection if the sniffer goes well and the inspector can see that the smog equipment is present in the engine bay, even if it isn't the same as the standard car. I talked with one inspector about putting in a different engine and he said he doesn't care as long as the smog equipment is there.

So, my main concern is to pass the sniffer. I'll do some more research and see what comes up.
