Where To Get Gears (what kind of car?)

Im cheep & i was wondering Is there any old junkers that might be at an autowreckers that would have 3.08-4.10 gears in the back that would fit in to my 8.8" rear end?
if so what kind of car should i pull it from, & what ratio might be in it.
thanks

Well depending on how much you really want to spend, you can get a new set of FMS gears for $149. I think I paid $139 or there abouts for the gears I have. Have had them a year and haven't heard a single noise, or had any problems with them. If you want used, I would think the Broncos should have an 8.8 in them and 3.73's or so. Not sure though. Somebody else will probably know for sure.

Rangers and explorers came with 3.73's (the 4.0L engines) and some with the towing package came with 4.11's and you can get ones that are low mileage with little to no wear.

I'm using 87-88 Tbird turbo-coupe gears. So far so good.(3.55-3.73)I have 3.73

You can get 3.73-4.10 from f-150(just the gears). However the carrier is 31 spline so you would need axles.

Tbird is cheapest option

4x4 rangers have an 8.8 in 'em. The auto's have 4.10's. The trac-lock is 28 spline so you can use it too.

I'm pretty sure you need two drivers side axles as the rear is offset on a ranger.
