wheres the PCV valve at??
do i need to remove the intake to find it?? i need to know
|
It's in the back of the lower intake, sitting in a large grommet. You do not need to remove the intakes to access it. Ford techs are allotted about 6 minutes to replace it.

get a flashlight, and look right behind the upper intake, and it's right in the middle back of the lower intake. Follow a vaccuum line from the tree. You'll find it, it's a ***** at first!

Warning!
Whatever you do, only use a Ford Motorcraft PCV valve. The aftermarket ones do not fit tight enough in the grommet and TONS of oil will dump out. It's in a real stupid area as it vents into the lifter galley which has alot more oil spraying around than on the valve covers. But ya gotta live with it. Also when I replaced the PCV I got a new grommet, but that was not as tight to the manifold as the old one was. I ended up putting some black silicone on it to seal better, ( on the side that seals to the intake, not the valve, also dont get any into the screeen below.) now nice and dry ! Some also replace the lower screen as well.
This is much more of a project than it should be |
yeah definetly a pain in the ***...a buddy of mine told me thats the first thing he changed on any mustang he gets because he knows its never been done to it....on a chevy the easiest thing to to do is to replace the PCV
