![]() I'm about to pull the transmission out of my 89 to put in a new clutch and was wondering about how much it weighs.

![]() Not sure what the exact weights are but the t5 felt like it was around 90lbs, and the tremecs felt like they were a little over a 100, and the t56's feel like tanks. These arn't facts though it's just what it feels like to me.

![]() I think the T5 is like 60 and the Tremec is like 85. I built an adapter for my jack that I could strap the tranny to. It comes out and installs real easy. The biggest pain of the whole process is probably pulling the h-pipe. I have a 351 so things are tight.

![]() I recently put my T5 (sans tranny fluid) on the bathroom scale the other day. It rang home at 73 pounds. This seems dead-on with the 75 pound rating the factory gives it.
Good Luck with the trans removal. Remember, it's all about having the right tools!! If you have a hoist -- buy a transmission jack. If you're going to do the 'ol jackstands route (what I had to do), use a 3-ton (or something like that) floor jack to help lower/balance the transmission when you remove it. ------------------ Jeff Kane 1990 LX Mustang ex-5.0 Coupe No engine. ![]() Yup, they weigh like 75lbs. The best thing is to have a jack that you can balance it on, otherwise it's a pain in the a$$. And the usual stuff, like clutch alignment, etc. makes the install a little easier.
