![]() I have a problem. The power steering hydraulic control valve is shot in my car. It is still driveable, but there is a lot of side to side slop in the bushing where the pitman arm goes into it.
I have 2 choices. Send in my bad valve with a core charge of $70, buy the rebuilt one for $115, and get refunded $70 of the core charge. ORRRRRRRRR....... Ditch the power steering and buy the manual steering adapter that replaces the p/s control valve. This thing would cost $150.... The car will be driven on the street and on the drag strip. It's not a daily driver, just driven in nice weather on the weekends to have a little fun. I have skinny (215/60/15) front tires on it that are not too bad to turn without power steering. I think I want to convert to manual steering....but I'm not quite convinced it's the right thing to do..... ![]() Whadda you guys think? |

![]() If it's not a everyday driver, manual is better, plus more power, less the motor turns.

![]() The power thing doesn't really matter to me...maybe if it was an all out 2000 lb drag car...but the 2-3 hp I might gain doesn't really matter....
