Default Vert. Mounts don't fit???

I have an 83 stang with a 76 motor. I went to switch mounts and the motor sits to high. I noticed they have little dowels about 1/4". I have no holes in my frame for them. Even if I grind them off I don't think it will be enough.

Is there a compatibility problem because of the year of my car. I have heard everyone recommend them. Anyone pre 87 used them?

If I can't use them, what would be a cheap alternative for them. I'm sick of my solids.

Thanks.

the mounts were 150 from summit they come with the motor and trans mounts. I think you can get just the motor mounts for like 20 or 30 $ cheaper but I love these things they have almost no movement of the motor but still soft enough not to shake the car apart at idle.
