LEAN POP THROUGH INTAKE!!!!!!! HELP !!!!!!
EVER SENCE I PUT CAM, HEADS, AND INTAKE ON THE CAR IT HAS AN INTERMITTENT LEAN POP AND SLUGGISH OR A LEAN FEELING PART THROTTLE TAKE OFF. THE TIMING IS AT 14, I HAVE GOOD FUEL PRESSURE, NO VACCUM LEAKS, ALL SENSORS ARE GOOD. I HAVE NEW O2'S, NEW MASS AIR SENSOR. THE THING RUNS GOOD AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE BUT SOMETIMES IT JUST FEELS REALLY SLUGGISH AND IT WILL LEAN POP THROUGH INTAKE ON PART THROTTLE. I HAVE 73 MM C&L AND 70 MM MAC TB. ANY IDEAS WHERE I CAN START ????

are you absolutely 100% sure there's no vacuum leaks. Try getting a small bottle of propane and hook up a hose and run it around and see if the idle picks up. When do you specifically remember this problem starting? Good luck,

A backfire through the intake? Are you sure? What mods do you have?

If it's popping through the intake, perhaps the cam was indexed wrong, or one of the valves is sticky. If it really just sounds like the intake, (stock exhaust makes backfires really quiet) I'd be inclined to think an injector might be sticking. What fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, injectors do you have? |

the heads are new and i have stud type rockers. i checked the valve adjustment and it is ok. i run fuel pressure at 39 to 40 psi. i have 190 gph pump. and i have 19 lb injectors. i am beginning to think it is the cam. i have changed everything but the air intake sensor but it is ok. it didnt start this until i did the mods to it. but i put stock intake back on it and it still does it.
