Will the air bag go off.

I recently purchased a 93' notch. After getting it home I realized the Air bag light is flashing. I do know the car was in a light wreck. A new hood and front bumper cover were replaced. It looks like a headlamp adjustment screw has hit the air bag sensors on both sides just enough to crack the plastic cover. I traced the wiring and the passenger side sensor is unplugged. If I plug it in Will the air bag Go off? Will the light stop flashing? I want the air bag to work in case I ever need it. Thanks for your help.

I doubt just plugging in the sensor will activate the airbag but be aware that
If it goes off, they cost about $500. to replace.

I know what you're talking about. Mines been blinkin ever since I hit 150k miles... It blinks 3 times. I figured it was just fords way of saying that I should go have general maintenance performed on the Air Bag system. I've just kinda tuned it out. Just like my low coolant light that is always on. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif Though I can't recommend the same thing, but I haven't had any problems with the airbag for 10k+ miles so... do what ya want. And if you figure out what its for, lemme know. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

I have another steering wheel out of my wrecked 90 lx. Thank goodness when I wrecked it it didn't go off. If I plug it in and it goes off I can replace the entire wheel. I don't wqnt to do that but will if i Have to.
Thanks for the help.

If you have another wheel, then I don't think it would be so bad if it goes off, mess to clean up but no big repacking fee. You'll have to go to the junkyard and get those sensors too though.

my coolant light stayed on too, the problem was the contacts at the end of the sensor had crud caked on it, i scraped it all off, and it was all good http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
