Will Stock Regulator work w/155lph Fuel Pump??
 

I'm not driving my car right now, but I need it running to move it around while I work on it. The car has been sitting for a few months and a few months before that, I replaced the fuel pump with a 155lph unit. I wanted to use an adjustable pressure regulator, but never got around to it. Here's my question. I'm not working on the motor/fuel delivery system yet. I'm doing suspension, rear, brakes and trans first. I know I need a new regulator because of the gasoline smell I was experiencing after the new pump went in. The car runs as is, but I'd prefer to buy a $20 stock regulator for the time being. Would this correct my problem or is the stock regulator too weak??

the stock reg will work fine. i'm using the stock reg with two 255L/hr pumps.

The stock regulator should be fine, i run a stock one with a 190 lph and never had a problem. if you smell gas after you put the pump in, maybe you have a oring that didn't seat well. But the regulator shouldn't be your problem

Go ahead and install an adjustable reg. now while the car is down, set it at 38-42psi with vacuum disconnected and it will be the same as a stocker until your ready for more pressure, the pump capacity doesn't determine what reg to buy, they all work.

If the regulator fails you can certainly smell gas. The diaphram ruptures and gas is sent into the vacuum line. Eventually you might get a whiff of it. Bad injector O-rings, a broken charcoal canister or lines running to it would be more likely at fault.

If your regulator has ruptured, your car will run like total garbage.
