windage trays

Do windage trays really produce a HP gain?

I have a mildly modified 302 ( heads, cam, intake, 650 double pumper, underpullys, shorty headers, H-pipe, Flowmasters and K& N filter).

When i was building my engine i looked into getting a windage tray. But my engine builder said it wouldnt make a BIG difference. Windage doesnt really start till around 5500RPM i think it was. And my engine peaks at 5800. It would probably have made 2 or 3 HP more but i didnt think it was worth it. But if your engine sees alot of high rpms then its probalby a good idea. But if your like me than its not really needed.

Thanks, I thought the ads for up to 20 HP seemed to good to be true.

A big advantage is that it helps keep the oil from frothing up as much. Lets the oil fall into the pan and stay ther, versus getting whipped with bubbles before going into you oil pump.
