Question My wipers only work on HI!?!

I'm having trouble figuring this one out...my wipers will only work on full blast...when I put it on low or on intermediate it acts as if the wipers are off. I've changed the wiper/turn signal switch already, and I don't know what else could be causing this. Please Help.

Thanks

well if it works on full blast I'd assume that the motor is good
other than that maybe the wiring is shot or the connectors are corroded?
have you done any testing around the switch with a volt meter?

I had a similar problem....

My wiper motor went bad. I just went to a junk yard and bought a "new" one.

Also, if that doesn't work, you might want to check your "multifunction switch". It's the switch that's in your sterring colum that operates every function for that lever. We had to replace that on my mom's T-brid... and it was expensice. Hope it's just the motor.

Yeah...I replace the multifunction switch already. I just can't imagine that the motor is bad. Has anyone ever heard of a bad wiper motor only working on high only?

My wiper motor did that on it's way out. The motor was getting tired, and would only work at high, that has the most current going to the motor.

Leave the motor in the normal on position, hit the wiper motor with a hammer etc, if it starts up, it's going bad. The wiper motor design was changed in 92 or so. The motors AutoZone carries are the updated ones, you need a harness update from Ford to run one. Lucky I was like a week left on the warranty from NAPA for my motor and got it replaced free. I would imagine any Mustang that gets used regularly in the rain etc will have a wiper motor failure, I've had two go on my 90, and my beat box 88 has a bad one too.

I'm not sure on this but is the wiper relay switch contained in the multifunction switch you already replaced? if not it could just be a bad relay.
