![]() Im having a problem with pushrod sizes and was wondering if anyone out there could help me out. Well you see I have a stock 5.0 lower end with edlebrock upper and lower intake. The Windsor heads that I have did not come with pushrod guides and I was told I did not need them. But I was told I should use longer ones and they should be hardened. I will be ready to install my heads next month and was unsure of the proper length. O and by the way how much more horse power will I be getting with these heads, and thanks for your help.

![]() you don't "need" valve guides, but why not put them on??
Whoever is doing your heads will know what you need. You should have a mild port job b4 putting them on. Deck them to raise compression, and also have the exhaust side cleaned up. Probably cost about $200, and will get an honest 15-20 more hp. if they are aluminum, probably 25-30 or 40-50 hp gain. iron probably 15-25 or 30-35 hp gain. (stock or ported) depends alot on your mods now.stock heads are a big bottle-neck ------------------ 4.10's,long tubes & 75 shot...Goes 12.50's Check it out at http://www.burnouts.webprovider.com |

![]() For my combo with Windsor Jr's and a rumply cam, I used aftermarket, stock length, hardened pushrods from FMS.
If you are running aftermarket roller rockers, you will need guide plates, and if you need guide plates, you need hardened pushrods. The Windsors I have from Keith Craft Racing came with guideplates already installed. --nathan ------------------ --silver_pilate '91 GT, Built 306, Wolverine 1087 cam, ported Windsor Jr. Irons, and all the goodies...click the link to the left to see a full list of my mods... ![]() For my Windsor Sr's I got Crane 'moly hardened pushrods (stock length, for roller rockers) Summit part# CRN-36623-16 $79.95, and Competition Cams guideplates Summit part# CCA-4816-8 $25.99. They should work for you too.
