Default X-Pipe (Cats vs Catless)

Hello,

Having a hard time decide. I want cats, but it is so much more expensive! Also, how much louder is the catless?

Which company has the best x-pipe? (Currently I have BBK headers and MAC exhaust).

Thanks,
DoranW

i had a bbk x pipe on my 89lx, it was pretty quiet just cruising but when you get on it, its gonna scream. if you have the extra cash i would go with the cats though, itll be quite a bit quieter and wont have to worry about good ol emissions.

I bought my car without cats and bought a summit h-pipe w/ cats to pass inspection. Performance wise, I think you can feel the difference. The catless seems faster. What ever you do don't get a summit h-pipe. The first time it came it didn't have o2 holes drilled in, then when it came back it was 1.5 inches short and the metal peices that go into the double hump were 6 inches to far forward. I ended up grinding off the double hump supports and had to pry and clamp my exhaust together, it was so tight. After about a month both muffler brackets broke so I passed inspection and put the offroad h back on.

Sonics:

Your state requires emissions testing so you need catalytic converters, at least for the test.

I would just pop for the high-flow cats and be done with it as you don't lose that much power but if you go catless (H-pipes) then just install the cats at test time and remove them afterwards. Many Mustang owners in emission testing states do this successfully.

FYI: Unless they've stopped, Walker makes a high-flow catalytic converter system for under $300.

How does the quality compare? As much as I hate to spend money, it would be worth it to me to pay for BBK or something if it is superior. Thanks
