yes or no

ok this is just a quick poll.

Were the SD stangs any faster than the mass air ones?

DRASTiK 04-10-2002 05:25 PM

stock for stock, IMO I believe they were a little faster.

lx mike 04-10-2002 05:27 PM

Yes they are a bit quicker that a mass air mustang.

Dark_5.0 04-10-2002 05:46 PM

Yes they are faster I know first hand I would say about 1 - 1 1/2 car lengths faster stock for stock.

I think on the 87-88 stangs the cam shaft was a little different too

SD all the way!!!:)

SD vs Mass Air Mustangs

Yes. The Speed Density 5.0 Mustangs were about a 1/2 second faster in the quarter.

That's subjective to tuning, track conditions and driver but in a SD/Mass Air 5.0 Mustang race, all other factors being equal, I would bet on the SD 'Stang to win, no doubt.

ArtMan 04-10-2002 08:03 PM

Nice try

No. Read the track times of the many car mags. Compare the '88/'89 models to the '90 models.:p

Stang Runner 04-10-2002 08:11 PM

you say No.... Have you drove them both?????

srv1 04-10-2002 08:55 PM

i drove an 87 stock. it seemed to have a little more grunt to it. as for faster? i wouldnt know, i never raced one. it just felt it had more power to me. from what i experienced with the gain in power, i would have to say yes, but cant back it up.

Conman 04-10-2002 09:28 PM

Bone stock the SD's were/are faster, the only problem with them is once you start modding them and get the air flow too high (over about 300 hp) the computer can no longer calculate proper A/F ratios so it won't run properly

DrunkFireman 04-10-2002 09:46 PM

Thanks for the replies, i just posted this to prove to a friend :)

joe4speed 04-11-2002 03:54 AM

yes, but they are limited to their capabilities.... Mass air can be modded big time, where SD has it's limits! But there ARE some fast *** SD's out there!
Remember, Mine was SD before I did the conversion

joe4speed 04-11-2002 03:56 AM

also, I got faster times at the track with the SD as compared to the Mass Air... go figure

I'm not your friend D/F! Unless you have a serious strip car or it is bone stock M/A is vastly superior to S/D.:D

Back up your statements instead of talking trash......What can you do with your car that I cant do to mine.

If you know what you are doing speed density isnt bad at all.

At the track the guys are always telling me I would have beaten you if you didnt have speed density.

IMO speed density is superior on your average heads intake combo.

i dont know for sure but you all say that the sd was faster than the mass air but i would much rather have the mass air over the speed density, you cant do much to sd cause the damn computer.

Dark_5.0 04-11-2002 12:46 PM

Most people would rather have mass air....I guess im just weird:D
