Default 1993 Mustang Lx 2.3l Fuel Pump Prob

This morning my fuel pump failed to energize and my car would not start. I usually hear it as I turn the key on. Lately before this, it would energize in the "on" position and then again at the cranking point. Could this be a fuse, relay, or pump itself problem? And where are thes located at? I hate the idea of dropping the fuel tank :-(
Thanks, Hammer

That's the way it's supposed to work. If you could hear the fuel pump will cranking though I would say that your pump died.(usually they get louder right before they die) You can try a relay first since they are cheap and easier to replace, the relay is under the drivers seat.

Problem solved! It was the darn battery! It was strong enough to turn over the engine but not the fuel pump. Replaced battery and now is good as new :-) Thanks!

Wow, that's weird. It'll take 50+ amps to crank the starter over where the stock fuel pump is only about 4.3amps (no load). Something just doesn't seem right with that...maybe just a freak occurence.

Hey Bud I Just Wanted To Let You Know I Have A 1993 Mustang 2.3 Auto That I Converted To A 5.0 Manual And The Fuel Pump Relay Is Under The Hood On The 8 Plug 4cyl. It Is Located On The Passergerside Of The Motor. Its Not A Common Relay It Is A Black Box On A Bracket With A Bunch Of Wires Running To It. I Ran Into This Problem When I Swaped The V8 I Had To Wire A Fuel Pump Relay Directly Into The Computer. Oh And Ps If U Have The Problem Agin Get A Test Light That Will Suplly A 12volt Current And Power The Fuel Pump From The Trunk Under The Spare. If It Runs U Know The Problem Is Else Where. Hope This Helps

Me again! Guess what? It was the relay and your location was correct. It was in plain view but if you don't know the location.....It is called a multi-function relay or an integrated control module. The FP relay and others are located inside it. Price was $121.60 + tax at the Ford Dealership. Thanks!!!
