Unhappy What's the problem?

I have just acquired a 1985 Mustang LX. When I purchased the vehicle, the former owner said that the car ran, but the fuel pump was in the fuel tank. He got it out and bought a new one. He said that it still didin't kick over. I have little experience with Mustangs, so I could use some HELP!!!

Lightbulb

Was the fuel pump installed correctly?
Injectors getting fuel?
Spark at the plugs?

As with any vehicle, you'll need to do all the basic checks of the fuel and ignition system to locate the source of the problem.

A Chiltons manual for that year would help.
