Default 4 Cyl. project mustang

Alright, I'm looking into buying a mustang just to waste my time on (and money). This will be my first project car. I have a couple of friends that will do the work I can't do for fairly cheap.
I'm thinking I can find a 4 banger fairly cheap. So now I need some advise from the pros. What size engine would you guys suggest? 351? I can grab one out of a local junk yard right? What type of vehicle should I get it out of?
I know these are a lot of newbie questions, but I do appreciate whatever help I get.
