8 Cyl Swap!!

Hey everyone, I have finally decided to swap my 4 cyl for the good ol 302. Should I get the motor out of a wrecked Mustang? Also, I have about $1,000 saved up, Will that be enough for the swap?? Any input would be greatly appreciated. One guy I talked to put one in his four but he didnt do any wireing, he said that the tach. was way off. Would I save $$$$ by not putting new wireing in? Thaks Alot.!!!

I think you are in way over your head.

What exactly do you know on how to swap a 2.3L for a 5.0?

Brad.

You could probably do it if it is carbed. The tach being way off is not caused by the wiring, it's caused by the tach circuitry, if you switch it to one from a v8 you will be fine. You better know how to swap out basically all of the drivetrain before you try it because if you don't then you will have a no-go car. If you don't know much about how to do this then don't even try it! You'll be sorry. You will also need some wiring diagrams so that you know how to wire it up if you do this, and label everything when you disconnect it, it will be a nightmare if you don't. You might also want to swap out the springs, shocks and struts when you do it. As you can see, it is a really big job and you need to know your stuff if you do it. Good luck with your decision!

Oh yea, i'm going to try to get this moved to late model tech, or if any moderator sees this the please move it. You will get many more detailed responses there(usually). No offense Jett, I can tell you know what you are talking about.
