Clicking noise in rearend?

Well, when I shift the car into R or D with my foot on the brake I hear a clicking noise coming from the rearend and sometimes it happens just when I start to take off. What could this be?? It's not amazingly loud but you can hear it with the radio off. I've been told it's my rear end.........Would getting new gears fix that?? If not, What would??

OH, I don't know if this is related but when maintaining 30-35 mph, I can feel the car shaking pretty good.....

Could be a bent rear axel. I had the same kind of noise with my 01 stang. I slid off of the road and hit a curb, bending the right rear axel. Just and idea. Good luck.

Heh, i had pretty bad shaking when I offroaded my 89 Tempo in about 3 foot of snow, and bent the rear axle so badly it set my steering wheel to have to be sideways for the car to move straight at all. Car enjoyed pulling to the right, wee! Heh, fixed it with a sledge-hammer and some good ol' pounding. Good thing I just drive that as my winter beater...phew...
