Default Ford Taurus SHO

Here's the question: I'm wanting to build a mid-engine car with the Ford 302 5.0L v8 but I *need* to use a transaxle off a front wheel drive car (flip the ring gear/pinion so the transaxle can be mounted in the rear and drive the rear wheels -- unless the Taurus uses linkage cable which would make the job much easier). I was thinking about using the Ford Taurus 4 speed automatic transaxle. Can the transaxle handle the horses and torgue from the 5.0? And is there any real difference between the transaxle on the OHV/DOHC v6 compared to the SHO v8?

Here's a few specs:
Ford Taurus SHO
32-valve, dual overhead cam v8
Horses: 235 @ 6,100rpm
torque: 230 @ 4,800rpm
transaxle: Electronic 4-speed automatic overdrive with overdrive lockout

Just for sh@ts and giggles, does anyone know the CID for the SHO v8?

Thanx.

Also, what about the Lincoln Continental and Mercury Sable transaxle? Could either one handle the 5.0L v8?

Here are the specs:

Lincoln Continental
Engine: 275hp, 4.6L 32V InTech v8
Transaxle: Automatic Electronic Overdrive

Mercury Sable
Engine: 3.0L Vulcan 2V (or 4V) 6-Cylinder
Transaxle: Electronic 4-speed automatic overdrive

Thanx.
