Default Fuel Pump?

I have a 92' LX 2.3L Turbo, I have had it for only a month. Anyway it makes a high pitched whining noise from the back. I am wondering if it is my fuel pump? Also, I have an 87' LX 2.3 non turbo that has been wrecked. I had the pump changed about 1,000mi before the accident, can I use it with my Turbo? How hard is it for me to change, if that is my problem?

I found this on another site, what do you think of this? Other than the car being a 93, everything fits what is going on in my car.

"Question: 1993 Ford/Mustang 2.3 mileage: 164000. We are looking at purchasing this car. While test-driving this vehicle, we noticed a rather loud whirring sound coming from the back of the car. This sound continued whether it was moving or stopped. Our first guess was the fuel pump and in fact was confirmed by the mechanic; the sales person says that Ford fuel pumps are typically loud and the fact that it is a hatchback amplifies the sound. Personally, I have driven other Ford Mustangs and have never heard the fuel pump. Is this in fact typical of Ford fuel pumps or should we be concerned about this sound? Thank you for any information you can provide."

The 2.3L fuel pumps do make alot of noise, i've had 2 fuel injected mustangs ('89 5.0, '91 2.3L) and both had that whine, it doesn't necessarily mean there is anything with the pump, as long as you have correct fuel pressure i wouldn't worry about it. Also if your 2.3L is a turbo i wouldn't use a stock 2.3L fuel pump since it likely won't be adequate to feed the engine under boost. The car might even have a higher volume pump in it for the turbo. You can try replacing the fuel pump if you'd like but it will probably still make the same noise.

Edit: '92 2.3L mustangs were not turbo from the factory, chances are it has a turbo/turbo engine from a thunderbird turbo coupe or SVO mustang.

Thanks for the input, I have thought that it isn't a factor turb job. Everything looks good but their is no boost guage and the exaust is wrong. Mt car is incredibly load and needs a new muffler. When I looked under the car I noticed that it has a standard muffler with a big hole in the side. I went to Schucks auto and ordered a Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler. The guy told me that he has a friend that put a generic muffler on a turbo and the backpressure blew the muffler off the car. That's probably how I got the hole in mine. I am willing to bet that they didn't change the original fuel pump if they left a standard muffler on it. What kind of fuel pump do I need? Thanks...Dean
