Default HP increase for old 3.8

I have an 83 Mustang convertable , in great shape, but the engine is getting tired, it is not fuel injected, but has a carb. Can I bolt a stock carbed 302/289 to the C-5. Would a newer V6 drop in??? I am not a hot rodder, and don't have a heavy foot.

From what I've read, yes it is possible to attach a 302 to the C5 trans. But don't take my word for it there. I would assume it could happen, cause I've heard about swapping small block trans components to a 3.8.
