Mustang in africa! HELP!

Hi Ive recently bought a 1980 Mustang Ghia 'T' Top, Straight 6, 3.3 l.
Its in good cond but has been chopped around a bit. Mustangs and Info on them, in this part of the world are like 'Rocking horse Shit'. The car that ive bought has got a 'Peugeot' carb on it!
Im apealing to anyone who can help me find out what carb it had originaly and where in africa I can get one.

1980 Mustangs equipped with the 3.3L engine had a Model 1946 (1946C for California) carburetor. These carburetors are complicated, hard to adjust properly and do not offer very good driveability. If the car is running smoothly and getting reasonable gas mileage, I would leave the Peugot carb in place. BTW, my son's '85 Mustang has a '78 Fairmont 3.3L engine with a Chevrolet carburetor. Those of us outside the US sometimes have to make do.

The 1980 3.3 could either have the Holley 1945 or the 1946 carb installed. Both, however are very limited in their capabilities. But, as PanamaRed pointed out, if it's running fine, then don't touch it.

By the way, which chevy carb is on that '85 and how much better does it run??

I don't know, Uneek, but it is old enough to have a heat operated choke and no smog junk. The engine runs great, smooth idle, good power, and starts immediately. The carb was on the engine when I bought the '78 Fairmont parts car. So far the Fairmont has donated its rear axle and one inner door handle to a '79 Mustang, Engine and trans to the '85, and one headlight to my '87 Isuzu P'Up. Not much left.

Sounds like my vehicle situation. The Carb on my car is from an '83 Fairmont with california emissions. It also donated the inside door handle, a/c controls, spare cyl. head, etc. Then I also had an '84 V6 Mustang with a totalled unibody I stripped just about everything off of. It literally was sitting on its floor pan when it was towed off. So, if you need some parts for an '84, I've probably got it laying around.
