1990-1993 lx 5.0 hatchback
I've always loved this bodystyle and am looking to buy one. Any idea how much I can expect to get one for? I'm looking to spend around 5-6K. Looking for as close to stock as possible. (no mods)

I bought my '91 lx for $6k in pristine, completely stock condition with 87k mi.
Oh and my friend wasn't selling it, I saw it for the first time and told him I wanted it, it took me a few months, but he finally let it go. I don't think I paid too much, I just had never seen one as nice.

I dont want to piss ya off but let me say this..... I have had 5 Fox Stangs, One on NOS and one Blown.... If you are looking to spend about 6k, and if you have abosolutly ANY plans on modding it.....take that 6k and buy one that someone alredy has in the 12's.....Instead of buying one for 6k and spending another 2-?k in mods.......
Just my .02 This last one I bought has around 6k in just mods and I payed WAY LESS then that!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!

The only problem with buying premodified cars is that there is the possibility that they have been messed with. We shall take mine for example
I bought mine for $4750 (guy was asking 5500) It already had 2 chamber flows, k+n, BBK progressive springs, FMS 10.5" clutch and a B+M Ripper shifter. It was in nice shape and it had 96k when i bought it. However I have had to replace basically the whole cooling system except the water pump, the rear main seal is leaking, and I just now discovered that my oil rings are leaking causing my spark plugs to become fouled after a year or so The guy I bought it from had alot of crappy quality work done to it that I could not have noticed by just looking at it. Oh well it just means I have stuff to fix and improve

Buying a mustang that has already been modded is very cost effective, You just have to be very sure that the person(s) doing the work did a good job. There are many more beat to crap, hacked mustangs out there then ones done right. Ask where the work was done, who did it, and get a feel for the owner.
I bought my stang for $6700 with no work done to it and 55,000 miles on the clock. I am the second owner and know the car was never beaten on mostly because i got to know the owner before I bought it. The only reason he was selling it was becuase the baby seat he bought for his expecting wife didn't fit in the back seat. He was very concerned that I would take care if it and it was apparent he took care of it like it was his kid. An example of this was the rubber floor amts protecting the factory floor mats. The only thing "wrong" with the car was the ashtray door was kinda broken and the struts that held up the trunk sometimes didn't stay up. He GAVE me an ashtray repair kit, new struts, a $150 car cover, and new wiper blades.

I bought my car for 300 after tax a used car dealership. It needed some work but over all im still under 5k with some mods.
I had to replace a quarter panel and a door and get it painted. That cost me about 600. Then I paid 400 for a new tranny cuz the syncros were going bad and i didn't have the time to rebuild it. THen came the mods... o yeah... it had aobut 90k on it when i bought it. But its looking better....

I love my car and i bought it with everything in my sig for 4500. Engine, trans, rear all have less than 10K on them. Car has 30K miles on it. The guy didnt drive it on the street much. It was just his track car. He sprayed it to an 11.11 and an 11.20. The head gaskets leaked some when i got it from spraying it but Im putting AFR heads on it anyway and soon a new intake. The car runs great. The fiberglass hood is unpainted and there is a couple dents in the quarter panel. The ash tray door was broke until i replaced the console but thats about it. Originally i was planning on buying a stock one but now i am glad i bought this. I did know the guy i bought it from so that made it even easier to buy.
Hope this helps

thanks for the replies....but the main reasons I want a stock one is because I believe the "fun" part of having a mustang is doing everything yourself. Call me crazy, but I like the feeling of accomplishment.

I got my 90gt for $3500 cash and besides a few rips in the seat it was pretty nice, also it all depends on what you wanna do, if you just want a nice cruiser with like no dreams of racin then spend the 5-6k but if you wanna cruise and haul some *** get a cheaper stang and just spend the extra in mods, just my .02
