new engine

I was wondering was is required for me to put in a 5.0L enging and take out the 2.3L. What would I need to put in (driveshaft etc.) and what I need to take out.

If you going to put a new engine in you should put a 5.8L(351w). You need to put if your car is AOD or 5-speed and year of car. Some of the things you will need is new Gears 3.55 or bigger.you will have to change engine mounts and new oil pan. You may be able to keep you transmission and just change your bell housing..

i have done the conversion myself. it ends up being very expensive, due to the fuel injection. there is too many things to list. if you really want a 5.0 i would sell the 2.3 and buy one. if not find a wrecked 5.0 and transfer everything.

I concur with 4nomore. Find a donor car because you are going to have to swap out the entire driveline, suspension and all. The tranny won't stand up to a 5.0 for long and the rear axle is a 7.5. I've used a 7.5 behind a 351C/C-6 for a while now and it's still there but I keep waiting for it to frag. I found a wrecked 84 GT for 50 bucks for my swap. It saved me a BUNCH of bucks not having to buy all the parts individually. Good luck.
