Default Oil Pressure

My oil pressure gauge has been acting funny lately. The pressure will all the sudden drop and then it goes back up like nothing even happend. I don't have to be stopped when this happens so that makes it even weirder.

The car has somewhere around 87,000 miles on it. It doesn't do it all the time either. I checked the oil and it's good. I will be changing the oil shortly and I figure If I'm draining the oil I might as well replace something while there isn't any oil in the pan.

How long do oil pumps last anyways?

The sending units seem to go wacky often. Try replacing it and see if it cures the problem. If the problem continues, a test gauge should be installed to test more accurately.
