Default Overheating Issues!!!

I have an 83' with a 3.8L in it. The temp gauge is right to the end of the hot side when driving.I replaced the thermostat with no effect, the water pump is only a few months old and still working properly, at the same time that it is overheating i am getting little to no hot air out of the vents. What else could be causeing the overheating? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

No hot air is bad news. Something wrong. I had that once. Reason was the thermostat was not opening up to let hot water to the heater, radiator etc. I don't no how to check the theromostat or whatever signal it gets to open but my two cents is get it to a shop and find out. I burned up my engine due to this problem.
