EEC Tuner
Anyone here use an EEC Tuner board? I have one and found this link to a good forum. It hasn't seen alot of activity yet, but would like to see it grow with information and ideas.
http://www.iwantperformance.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi Also see this link for a newsgroup. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EECTuner/messages I haven't started much work on adding alot of power yet. I mainly have been improving launch and traction by setting a tune for the engine to leave with. Currently I run 8.30's with sixtys in the 1.80's. Best of 8.29 with 1.79. True Radial tires. 1/8th mile. Stock bottom end and cam. The car is totally street driven 3.55 gears. Mileage is a plus with 20-26mpg city/hwy. I also have a decent bolt on suspension setup. If you run the tuner, have you made any significant gains? |

I have the tuner. I don't have as much time as I'd like to toy with it, but I have done the basics and had my MAF transfer function done and tuned on the dyno. I added the tuner very soon after adding the heads and cam to my combo, so I can't say for sure that it made all this difference, but before the tuner, my best was a 13.2 at 105.1mph, with it I went 12.73 and my MPH jumped to 106.96mph. The group on yahoo is the best place for info, but the iwantperfromance site is good for people who are new to the tuner to learn the basics. One word of advice... don't sign up to have all the messages emailed to you, you'll end up with like a 100 a day!!!

The Tuner is $389 plus about 8 bucks shipping. Easy to mount. You can either use a laptop, or home pc. It comes with an A/C adapter if you want to do downloads in your home next to your PC. But you have to keep taking it out of the car. A laptop is alot better. Especially if you want to datalog.
It is easy to use for me, but I am a network admin. If you have good windows skills it is easy to navigate. You need to download ANY reading material you can find. I have used these sites and pulled about all the documention I can find. I pretty much know what all the variables are for and their function. You don't get much of this at the time of purchase. But due to the web, I figure that is what helps keep the price down since it is all available there. These sites have plenty of folks willing to help. And programmers have written code I downloaded just a few days ago. There is another called TwEECer. It is similiar. And has advantages. But wasnt available at the time. And looked to be having some small problems production wise. I think it will be an excellent product very soon. And probably is to the ones fortunate enough to already have one. But the EEC Tuner from Shiftmaster does all I need it to. It does Data logging for the A9L family of processors. Guess I should have posted the shiftmaster site too.. http://www.eec-tuner.com/ Last edited by PatrickMx; 01-18-2002 at 01:24 PM.. |
