Weird Engine Noise

Just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone could offer some suggestions. I have an unaltered 2000 3.8L and I've noticed that from time to time, the engine produces an interesting chain rattling sound. It occurs only when I'm accelerating and stops immediately when I back off on the gas. It also seems to only occur at speeds over 40 mph. My transmission is fine, but when I have the dealership look into this, I'd like to have an idea as to what this could be. Anyone else notice this as well? I'd appreciate any help with this. Thanks!!

Try getting some stuff to poor in with your next oil change. Sounds like maybe trash in your lifters.

Hey, thanks for your advice. I'll try that. I suppose it could also be the timing chain.... ie. needs an adjustment. Agree?

Not sure how many miles on you car but the timing chain is usally a 90000 mile job. That is about when it starts to go. I am not saying its not just trying to be useful.
