Lately I have been hearing people talk about knock retard and I was just wondering what it was exactly and how you can avoid it?

Also I had seen in a mustang magazine, someone had there brake vents and the heat extractors on the hood that are usually black, aluminum or chrome and I have wanted something like that for a while. Does anyone know where you could get something like that without just painting the ones you have.
