If you want to kind of trick your dad you can buy a Lincoln Mark VII LSC, which is basically a luxury mustang (225hp 5.0L w/AOD trans) or buy a thunderbird ('83 to '88 are fox body, as well as hideous '81-'82 box models) or some other fox body ford if you want to bolt on 5.0L mustang parts. Basically ANY V8 car with limited slip will kick the rear end out and i'd say trucks are way worse than mustangs because you can regain control easier with a mustang than a 70/30 weight ratio truck.

I'd say a steady foot controls most of rear end kicking out unless it's on ice. If you bought a Mark VII you could tell him there's alot more weight in the rear and it's heavier (which it is).

Just some ideas

I can't think of a classic car that doesn't kick the rearend out with any kind of power, so i can't really help you out there. Maybe you can convince him to let you have a 351C Torino or something
Good luck on your car hunting.
