Default fading lights on instrument panel

hey masters of stangs, can someone point me in the right direction. my instrument contrl panel has half faded lights.
the funny thing is half of the speedometer and half of the battery and oil indicator have dimmed lights while the half half is fine.
I adjusted the light level on the main lamp switch but it still does nothing.
Have you ever encountered this before? Please help.
thanks,
chan
