Default 1997 Head Gasket

I think the head gasket is out on my 1997 mustang, 6cyl.... It runs for a while, then runs hot, then smokes. I've since left it sit, but I don't know what I should pay for a new head gasket.

Also, does anyone recommend any shops in Denver that know what they are doing?

It is VERY expensive. It will cost you $0.00. Call your ford dealer and tell them. There was a recall on 1994-1998 3.8L V6 cars because they blow there headgaskets. Ford should replace them for free. I did mine before I knew about the recall and the reimbursed me $450. Good luck man.

Are they giving me the run around, or am I stuck with a lemon w/ 70K miles?

I swore that it was 94-98. But all the info I found looking now says that it is 94-95 and must be with in 7 years of the car being made and must be under 100,000 miles.

I checked for the wifes 97 3.8 and they found no recalls on it either. I checked with two different dealers.
