Default engine swap

I have a '96 v6 and was planning on putting in a new engine and tranny. Right now I am considering using the engine and tranny of a 5.0 since i can get one easily and i've read that 5.0's are easy to work on. Also, what is the biggest engine that would fit in my engine bay? Any other input on this idea would be appreciated.

Biggest engine? Well since the widest engine ford makes is the 4.6L DOHC and they make it for this car then that would be the biggest. People have also put V10s into this car. A 5.0 is a good swap. Parts are for the most part cheap and it is fairly easy to work on.
