What kind of rear-end is on my 1990 Lx 2.3Lx?
I know its not trac-lok but what size are the gears and is it a 7.5 or 8.8? The reason I want to know is the 88 T-bird I bought has on it, barely, (it was never completely attached) some supposed mustang rear end. If it is a better rear-end i am going to use it. If I pull off the differential cover how do I determine the gear ratio, isn't there some (count the teeth and divide by something) way to determine it. Also how do I know if it is 7.5 or 8.8, is it as simple as measuring the diameter? Thanks in advance. ------------------ 1990 Lx convertible Soon to be a Turbo Lx |

Your n/a has 3.45's non-traclok 7.5" rear-end.
The 88tc (if and automatic) has 3.73's, traclok, 7.5" rear-end, and disc brakes. If it was a stick it would have 3.45's. The turbo rear-end is a winner hands down. ------------------ Brad 88lx 2.3T www.turboford.org |
