4-banger hop up
I just got a '93 2.3L stang and now I'm wanting to do some mods. What kind of exhaust would you suggest?? What gears?? All the magazines that I've checked all talk about the 5.0 and I can't find anything on the 2.3's. Also, would it be worth it to get a ram air hood (with the kit, duh!) or does it even matter with the 2.3?? Thanks in advance!!

Well to start I will tell you what I have done with my car. I have a 1993 Ford Mustang 2.3L LX Hatch, along with my '91 347 LX Hatch & 2000 GT. The mods I have done to my '93 2.3L Stang are as follows. I have put on dual Flowmaster Exhaust (40 series). Sounds ok & gives it a nice look over the single pipe. As for other mods I have looked and looked with not much success on the the '93. Most people tell me if I want serious power is to find a 2.3L Turbo engine out of an old wrecked SVO Mustang or Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Some have gotten these engines up towards the 400 HP range.
I am still looking for other things to do to our N/A engine. If I find anything I will let you know. |

Welcome to Mustang Works Online! Not a whole lot is available for the 2.3 engine, but exhaust, some 3.55 ratio rear gears and a K&N air filter won't hurt. Beyond that, there isn't a lot you can do without getting into expensive modifications. The Ram-Air hood won't do a thing for you. If you want to stay with the 4 cylinder engine, I would concentrate on some aftermarket wheels and tires and a few other body modifications to enhance the appearence of your '93 Mustang. It's a great car, even with a small engine...just not a very fast car! Enjoy it anyway. ------------------ Mr. 5.0 Messageboard Administrator [This message has been edited by Mr 5 0 (edited 05-22-2000).] |

Give it some juice! I guess that a nitrous oxide kit is the best way to get a big increase in HP. Check out my Nitrous? post.
