Question about exhaust
If I dont get GT, I will be putting on dual exhaust from a GT. Question is.. Should I get 2 or 3 chamber flowmasters? Are their any sound files that I can listen to, or would someone make some up?
Im also looking into a C&L 73MM Mass Air System. I heard that will improve the sound as well. I'm looking for a deep growl (I DON'T want a ricer sound). Im also looking to add leather to it. So before I invest another $1,000 into my car, I want to make sure its going to be worth it. Also with the exhaust should I use H-pipe or none at all? I hear conflicting stories, how does this affect the sound? One more question.. The GT dual exhaust is 2.25", correct? Thanks for your help! |

GT is 2.25 best to go no bigger than 2.5 on a v6. You need to do either a h-pipe or x-pipe to equalize back pressure.

GodStang is right again. Also, the C&L Mass Air System will improve performance 6-9 HP, but will not affect exhaust sound. It allows more air to flow through the intake, has nothing to do with exhaust (I've got one, I swear by it, but it did not change the sound).

Mass air meter is good. My cold air induction is made from lowes parts. It is great. Later.

Godstang - had a lot of respect for your opinion until you said your mass air is from Blowes. Now I have lost all respect. You need to shop at Home Depot (guess who I work for).

I am sorry. It is a 50/50 chance on which one we go to. They are both the same distance away. You can make the same CAI from Home Depot if you want. I do not like Jimmie Johnson so Lowes is going on my crap list. I like Tony Stewert so Home Depot is way up there. I even have a Home Depot racing shirt. I hope to one day regain your respect:-)

Godstang - could you post the details on how to make a CAI from Home Depot?
Thanks!

Here you go jmargel. Article on building a home made CAI with pictures and parts list. Have fun and make sure you buy the parts at Home Depot. Lowes blowes.

That is the one I used. It works out real nice. Cost me $10 plus the K&N. I had to modify it some because it did not fit right for my 1994.
