Exhaust installation question??????
I am planning on buying the Flowmaster American Thunder cat back exhaust system for a 92 LX 5.0. Is this easy to install? Any welding? Thanks in advance.

I can't speak for everybody but on the two 5.0's that I've owned it's hasn't been pretty. I think a lot of it depend on what the history of the car is and what you define as eay. If the underneath of the car hasn't been touched than it shouldn't be hard at all.

The installation is not very hard... but there are things to watch for.
If this is your original exhaust, and you live in an area where the roads get salted, the bolts may be tough to get. Lots of PB blaster and even some heat from a torch will help there. You will also have to cut throught the tailpipes near the mufflers to remove the stocker. Installation is the easy part. Losely instal everything just so it is snug. Get it all lined up, and then tighten it down. They recommend welding the tailpipes to the mufflers. You have two options there. Just ignore it, or you can go to a muffler shop and get them to weld it real quick. It should not cost you much.

Thanks guys. The car is totally stock, in good shape and I live in North Florida (so the roads are not salted)

Some PB Blaster on the rubber hangers will help too! Good luck! |
