1995 V6 tranny noise

hi, my girlfriend just bought a 95 v6 with 40,000 miles on it. ive noticed that after shifting(5 speed), there is a noise that sounds almost like gears grinding. has anyone else had this problem or know what it is? thanks alot.

I have a 97, experienced a whine in 3rd. Took it to the dealer and the was told the noise is normal. I was shown a bulletin from Ford stating so. I have not experienced a whine in 5th.
