getting the most of the engine
I'm wondering what's the best way to go to get the most out of my engine. I have a 2001 V6 automatic. A while back I heard about a shift kit (?), but I don't know anything about them and I don't know anyone who has ever worked on a mustang before. Advice anyone?

i dont know too much about the V6 cars but ill take a shot at it. you can put some better gears in the back, id go with 3.73s, they work good with an auto. also you can put some GT dual exhaust on it, underdrive pullies, shift kit(like you mentioned if they have them) cold air, remove air silencer. also look into some magazines, i know Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords did a huge V6 performance book at the end of the mag, lots of good stuff in it, and also with that it will tell you what works and what doesnt and how much gain you'll get!!!

also if you have the money, apparently you can stroke out the 3.8 to 4.4.

I have modified mine so far with dual exhaust and a cold air intake. It has made a nice improvement so far, I'm also considering underdrive pulleys. Check out www.extremev6racing.com for some more radical ideas on V6 performance.

Gears are great.
Vortech or Procharger supercharger. 4.2 is the biggest you can stroke it to. Nitrous. (about 75hp is the max you want to run.) Shift Kit. Underdrive pullies Dual exhaust.

Kool did not know they came out with that kit. Last I checked it was a 4.2 but that was a while back I checked. I am glad they are going bigger,
