Default burning coil packs

My cousin has a 90 mustang 4 cyl that keeps burning coil packs up. If you drive it down the road even a couple miles it will burn it all up. Does anyone know what i can do to fix this??? I am wanting to buy the car for my gf but i dont' want to if its going to be a ton of money to fix it. ANy help is very much appreciated.
