Dual Exhaust
I have not decided on what cat back system that I want to go with for my 98 V6. I am down to a choice between the flowmaster and the dynomax-Pro Turbo's, but I haven't heard anything but the flowmasters on the V6's. I have a friend who has done this. Are there any shops, websites, or anything elsefor that matter that have these different setups recorded so that you can hear what the differences are or just to simply hear what is is going to sound like?

Sorry...I haven't decided on which catback/exhaust system, does anybody know if the x-pipe would be better than an H-pipe. I have friends that have a shop where they work on their cars, so installation is free (well, I gotta bring beer), and they are not sure because they all have older cars. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

if all you want is sound then go with the flowmasters...but you also have to have right right size pipes to get the sound you want. dynomax is more along the lines of a performance muffler and is not made for sound.

Well, I would like a good combination of both. Do the Dyno-max have the straight pipes for the dual, or do they have to be turned down?

Well, there is that adapter (made by SVO, I think), for the V6's, that lets you hook up any V8 Mustang H-pipe and cat-back exhaust up to the V6. You probably ought to look into that.

well, I know pacesetter makes an adapter for the V6, but it is an h pipe adapter. I wasn't sure if I had to use that or if I could also use an X pipe, like the bassani.

Well, think of it this way. On a V8 car, the H-pipe and the X-pipe both hook up to the stock engine, right? So why wouldn't they both hook up to the adapter?

The adaptor requires cutting the stock V6 Y-pipe ahead of the cross member. I have doubts that a V8 X or H pipe will fit the V6 and don't know of anyone who makes them for V6s.

Did you read what I wrote?
It says right on the description of the adapter, "This adapter allows you to bolt up any V8 H-pipe and cat-back exhaust behind the 3.8L." |

I tell you, Dynomax is the one to get. Great sound, good flow rate, and any aftermarket GT tailpipe will fit them. 11-15% hp gain.

Yes, Red_LX, I read your first post. You weren't sure who made the adaptor. The only one I know of is made by Pacesetter and it uses the stock V6 Y pipe which has to be cut. Instead of acting like a jerk and asking me if I read what you wrote, tell the man where he can buy the adaptor you are talking about. That would be useful information.
